Treating bug bites

Bites from mosquitos, fleas and other insects usually cause itching . Scratching the itching area usually aggravates the problem and can cause scars.

Some home remedies for this problem are:
1. Aloe vera for soothing the skin. If you grow aloe vera at home, you can use the juice from the leaf, else you can use aloe vera gel.

2. Rub an ice cube over the affected area. The skin will become numb for some time, so the itching will reduce.

3. Make a paste of baking soda and water. Applying it on the bug bites can bring some relief.

4. Rub alcohol on the skin helps as it has a cooling effect. Similarly using a shaving cream is effective, as the menthol in it has a similar effect.

5. A mixture of vinegar and a little salt can be applied to the affected area.

6. Apply tea tree oil with a cotton ball to the skin.

7. Directly applying salt on the bite may be painful for some time, but has a long term effect.

8. Rubbing toothpaste on the skin brings quick relief.

9. Applying calamine lotion to the skin also helps.
