Acne treatment

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in teenagers caused by hormonal changes, though some adults also suffer from it. Hereditary factors and stress can cause this problem. Though it only mars the appearance of the person suffering from it,it affects the self image and can lead to stress.

Having a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking enough water can help reduce acne. Keeping the skin clean and reducing stress levels may also reduce acne to extent. However, using a special formulated product for treatment of acne like the murad acne complex may be more effective.

The acne complex consists of three distinct parts specifically formulated to eliminate acne - the  clarifying cleanser to kill all the bacteria in the skin and remove the dirt, an exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel which exfoliates the skin and removes all the debris built up in the pores and  Skin Perfecting Lotion which is a moisturizer which soothes the skin. None of the ingredients used in Murad acne complex contain oil so that the skin does not become oilier and cause breakouts.

Treating insomnia using home remedies

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Lack of sleep can affect both the mental and physical health of a person and sleep pills some times have side effects.  However, many people have found   home remedies to be very effective for  treating insomnia, some of which are listed below:

1. Have a cup of hot tea, or hot chocolate, or warm milk before going to bed.

2. Rice and Turkey contain melatonin , a natural sleeping aid. As you grow older, the melatonin produced by the brain decreases, so persons above 30 some times find it difficult to fall asleep.
Include rice or turkey in your meals at least a few times in a week.
If this is not possible, melatonin can be purchased from a pharmacy.

3. Aromatherapy using essential oils like Lavender helps. They have a soothing effect on the brain and help you doze off.

4. Read a boring book or user manual, so that you are mentally relaxed

5. Make a list of all the things that are worrying you, all pending activities. Many times, stress can cause insomnia as you try not to forget the work to be done, so making a list of pending work may help.

6. Try to exercise or play a game earlier in the day, so that you are tired at night and fall asleep quickly.

Home remedies for blackheads

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Steaming the face remains the cheapest and most effective method for treating blackheads

Boil water in a vessel

Take the boiled hot water in a bowl

Tea tree oil may be added to the water, but it is optional

Put your face, especially the area with a lot of blackheads over the bowl, so that the hot steam hits your face

Keep your face in the same position, so the pores open due to the heat

The blackheads will rise to the surface and fall off or can be easily removed
Wash your face again with cold water, so that the pores shrink again

Ensure that your hands are clean when you touch your face, so that no dirt enters your pores which could cause pimples at a later date.
