An increase in the acid levels in the digestive system causes gastric reflux or acidity which can be painful and makes it difficult to sleep at night. Though some over the counter medicines are available, they may not be effective every time.
Some home remedies for treatment of acidity are:
1. Eat plenty of fresh fruits, papaya juice and licorice roots will also help.
2. Drink chilled milk, peppermint shots or alkaline food
3. Drink plenty of warm water
4. Chew fresh mint leaves or drink cabbage juice
5. Avoid junk food
6. Do not drink tea or coffee
7. Do not eat oily food
8. Do not eat a large meal in the evening and finish dinner at least 3 hours before going to bed.
9. Sit straight after eating, do not slouch, it will help digestion
