Autism support network
Autism is a disorder which can be detected in children even before they are three months old and is characterized by reduced social interaction and communication. Autism spectrum Disorders or ASD are a less severe form of autism and include a range of psychological conditions. In countries like United States, about 6 in every 1000 persons are affected by ASD. Genetic factors are believed to be the main cause for autism.
The Autism Support Network recently launched a free online support community for connecting individuals and families suffering from autism spectrum disorders. It provides support to doctors, persons suffering from autism , their family members, insights and guidance for those seeking treatment for the condition. The community allows members to fix appointments online and offline, create user groups to share information and allow members to have their own blogs.
The website has films showing how autistic children adjust to school life. The documentaries show the problems faced by autistic adults in their daily life and how they overcome these problems. The groups discuss the diet and nutritional requirements of autistic children which could help alleviate the symptoms of this condition.
